This was posted on Scholarly Communication, a blog from Duke University as a source for advice and information about copyright and publication issues. It tells a story of the Copyright Clearance Center, and it’s seemingly shady business of clearing rights it not only doesn’t own on behalf of people that haven’t asked to be represented by them. A brief look at the CCC website is not too informative about their real role in the licencing loop, but stay tuned -perhaps I will dig further.
